Current practice patterns for IOL calculations in patients with corneal disease
This webinar will review current research and developments in IOL calculations, including discussion of recent developments in optical biometry, such as total keratometry (TK), and their relevance to corneal surgeons performing cataract surgery. Three specific situations will be discussed: cataract surgery in keratoconus eyes, combined with DMEK and post-penetrating keratoplasty (PKP).

Kamran Riaz, MD, is a clinical associate professor focused on cornea, external disease, anterior segment, cataract and refractive surgery. His career in academic ophthalmology began at the University of Chicago where he restarted the refractive surgery service, inaugurated a region-wide optics course and brought many new surgical procedures to the department. He has a regional referral base at Dean McGee Eye Institute for managing a spectrum of conditions, including managing complications from cataract surgery, secondary IOL surgery and complex corneal surgery. He has authored more than 45 publications and 60 presentations, been an invited lecturer and surgical wet-lab instructor, as well as an invited visiting professor at academic institutions worldwide. Dr. Riaz has a passion for resident and fellow education, especially in optics and refractive surgery. He and his wife, Sanaa, also a physician, are blessed with three amazing children.
